The United Arab Emirates (UAE) mulls building four new nuclear power facilities next year with the help of South Korea, in addition to the four already being built.
To meet the rapidly increasing energy demands, the UAE state-owned Emirates Nuclear Energy Corp has partnered with Korea Electric Power Corp to carry out an ambitious nuclear energy program worth $30 billion.
South Korea is helping the UAE develop its nuclear energy capabilities through the building of nuclear power stations and enabling Emiratis experts acquire Korean technologies.
The UAE authorities have picked up in 2009 Korea Electric company, major electricity producer, to construct nuclear energy plants from 2017 to 2020, which will make the oil-rich emirate among the few countries of the region with atomic power.
