El-Sisi Calls for Increased Efforts to Restore Gaza Ceasefire in Meeting with Hungarian Speaker

President Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi emphasized the need for intensified efforts to restore the Gaza ceasefire and to resume prisoner exchanges between Hamas and Israel, during a meeting with László Kövér, the Speaker of the Hungarian Parliament, in Cairo on Sunday, April 27.

El-Sisi called for immediate action to address the ongoing conflict in Gaza, underlining the importance of securing humanitarian aid access to alleviate the severe conditions faced by Palestinians in the region, the Egyptian presidency said.

El-Sisi also reviewed Egypt’s continued efforts to bring an end to the Israeli military actions in Gaza, stressing the urgency of restoring peace and stability. He reiterated Egypt’s commitment to facilitating humanitarian assistance, which has become essential in addressing the dire circumstances of Gaza’s civilian population.

The meeting also focused on strengthening the bilateral relationship between Egypt and Hungary. Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to advancing cooperation across various sectors, particularly parliamentary collaboration. El-Sisi praised Hungary’s support within the European Union and its crucial partnership with Egypt in tackling regional security challenges, including conflict prevention, terrorism, and irregular migration.
