Iraq’s International Baghdad Theatre Festival resumed Wednesday, eight years after suspension, Middle East Monitor (MEMO) reports.
The show is taking place at the famous Al-Rasheed Theatre in the capital, with the motto, “Theatre now enlightens the life”, the media says.
Zahra Al-Jubouri, media director for the festival told state-run news agency INA that several Middle East countries and other countries around the world are in the attendance. Other proceedings of the festival will also take place at the National and Rafidain theatres.
Meanwhile aside from the International Baghdad Theatre Festival, the country is also organizing the Mirbed poetry festival on Thursday in the southern Basra province, for four days.
Artists from Arab countries, as well as Iran and Azerbaijan, will participate in the festival, MEMO notes citing the Culture ministry.
