Morocco’s 2022 World Cup squad arrived in Rabat on Tuesday as part of their celebrations following a historic run at the 2022 World Cup.
The team landed in the Rabat-Sale airport earlier today, with footage showing the players in classy suits accompanied by their mothers.
Thousands of Moroccan football fans took to the streets in the capital Rabat to watch the team’s bus as it went by and express their pride in the squad’s achievement.
The players boarded an open-roof bus from the airport, going on a tour of the streets of Rabat, before heading to the Rabat Royal Palace, where King Mohammed VI is set to receive head coach Walid Regragui and his players for a royal dinner.
Morocco’s national football team achieved a historic World Cup campaign in Qatar, becoming the first Arab team to reach the quarter-finals, as well as the first African or Arab team to reach the semi-finals.
Beyond satisfying the millions of fans watching back home, the Atlas Lions were also the story of the tournament, gaining the support of neutrals and those looking for an underdog story.
