Ahmad bin Ali Stadium, one of the stadiums to host 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar, will also welcome next year, the Turkish Super Cup known officially as Turkcell Super Cup.
The final between Turkey’s League and Cup champions Beşiktaş and Cup runners-up Antalyaspor will take place on Jan. 05, ahead of the World Cup scheduled for 21 November – 18 December 2022.
The Doha-based Ahmed Bin Ali Stadium was officially opened last year in Al Rayyan and became the fourth stadium ready to host the 2022 FIFA World Cup matches, with a capacity of about 40,000 spectators.
The stadium was also chosen by the African Football Confederation, CAF, to host CAF Super Cup match between Africa’s Champions League title winners Al Ahly of Egypt and Federation Cup champions, Raja Casablanca.
The Egyptian giants beat Raja during the tie played on Wednesday.
The venue was also among six stadiums that hosted FIFA Arab Cup matches earlier this month. Algeria beat Tunisia in the final. Qatar has emerged as a major sport hub in the world with state of art facilities.
