Egypt launches new oil refining company to produce 800,000 tons of gasoline per year

Egyptian President Abdelfattah al-Sisi inaugurated Wednesday the Gasoline Production Complex at the Assiut Oil Refining Company, expected to produce 800,000 tons of gasoline annually, Arab Finance reports.
Located in Upper Egypt province, the company is the largest petroleum complex in the region and aims to secure gasoline supplies for Upper Egypt’s governorates and save the cost of transporting them from the existing refineries in Cairo, Alexandria, and Suez to various regions of Upper Egypt, the media notes citing a statement from the al-Sisi’s office.
The project is one of the state’s strategic projects which come within the framework of development plans in Upper Egypt, the statement added.
