Saudi-led coalition intercepts Houthi missile targeting Najran

Saudi-led coalition stationed in Yemen has brought down a missile and explosive-laden drone launched towards the city of Najran.

The missile was launched by the Iran-backed rebels and was targeting the kingdom’s southern region close to the Yemeni border, the coalition spokesman Turki al-Maliki was quoted by state-run TV as saying.

The projectile was shut down on its way to Najran. The attack is one of multiple assaults carried out by the rebels.

The Saudi-led coalition and the Houthis have been entangled in a conflict since 2015 when the coalition intervened to restore the government of President Abd-Rabbu Mansour Hadi, which was flashed out of capital Sanaa by the rebels.
