Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) will provide Turkey’s small enterprises financial support valued at $300 million to muddle through the pandemic, Daily Sabah reports.
The financial pledge was born Wednesday from a cooperation agreement with Turkey’s Small and Medium Industry Development Organization (KOSGEB).
The beneficiaries are micro and small enterprises in the manufacturing industry as well as technology-based startups established after 2017 in computer programming, manufacturing and scientific research and development (R&D) sectors, the daily reports.
The cooperation will enable the beneficiaries to suffer the financial difficulties experienced during the pandemic.
Besides its economic benefits, “I think it is an important project socially as well, particularly enabling the protection of the jobs of employees who work in such enterprises,” JICA Turkey head Nobuhiro Ikuro said during the signing. KOSGEB head Hasan Basri Kurt welcomed the Japanese support to “utilize Turkey’s potential and generate added value.”
