French rail transport and sustainable mobility giant Alstom in partnership with Hyundai Engineering will build the Iraqi capital Bagdad metro project known as Baghdad Elevated Train (BET) project, Trade Arabia reports.
The duo landed the contact during the official visit of Iraqi Prime Minister Mustafa Al Kadhimi to Paris on Tuesday. The consortium, ExpoLink will supply rolling stock, electromechanical systems, tracks, as well as associated civil works for the project.
BET is a 20-km-long elevated metro network in Baghdad with 14 stations and will link Al-Khadumia, AlEtafia, Alsarafia bridge Al-Mustansirya, Wazyria and AlShab over 16km, and AlEtafia AlMuthana airport to Al-Alawi over 4km.
The two companies, still under ExpoLink are also responsible for delivering the world’s fastest-built turnkey driverless metro project, Dubai Route 2020 Metro, which was inaugurated in June 2020.
