Turkish intelligence services have arrested a Palestinian man for allegedly spying on Arab nationals living in Turkey on behalf of the UAE, Middle East Monitor (MEMO) reports.
The man, according to a senior Turkish security official who spoke on condition of anonymity on Friday, confessed to spying on Arab citizens and provided a set of documents that prove his association with the UAE intelligence service.
The private sources, MEMO notes, is identified as Ahmed Al-Astal, a Palestinian journalist from Gaza working for Turkish state-run news agency Andolu in the Turkish city of Istanbul.
Al-Astal also according to the source had been in touch with former Fatah member Mohammed Dahlan backed by the UAE and touted as the next leader of Palestinian Authority (PA).
Turkey last year placed Dahlan on its terror blacklist for his connections to the Gülen movement (FETÖ) and his role in the 15 July, 2016, coup attempt against President Erdogan.
