Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi and Jordan’s King Abdullah have firmly opposed any proposal for the forced displacement of Palestinians, following remarks made by US President Donald Trump, suggesting Arab countries take in Palestinians from Gaza.
At a press conference, el-Sisi emphasized on January 29 that such an idea would never be tolerated, stressing the potential threat to Egypt’s national security. He condemned the forced displacement as a grave injustice, underlining Egypt’s commitment to the Palestinian cause and its rejection of any plans that could undermine their rights.
In a similar stance, King Abdullah reaffirmed Jordan’s position during talks in Brussels, stating that Palestinians must remain on their land and that their legitimate rights should be preserved through a two-state solution.
Both leaders highlighted the importance of supporting Palestinian sovereignty and rejecting any attempts to displace the population. The remarks come at a time when Gaza’s residents, many of whom have been displaced multiple times since the onset of the conflict in October 2023, face a dire humanitarian crisis.
