Egypt to unveil insurance plans for diaspora in January

Egypt’s Ministry of State for Immigration will launch in January an electronic insurance for its diaspora worldwide, a statement from the ministry has announced.

 

Egyptian working and living abroad can register for the policy online via the Egyptian Pool for Travel Insurance’s (EPTI) website, paying an annual insurance premium of EGP 100 ($6.34).

The insurance plan, according to the statement, came in response to requests from of Egyptians in the Gulf countries, especially in connection with deaths, transport of bodies, accidents, and the payment of compensation.

Egypt’s diaspora in Gulf countries makes up the largest chunk of Egyptians expats around the world.

The insurance policy, designed by the ministries of immigration, security and Financial Regulatory Authority (FRA), will be public on January 1.
