Oman is mulling plans to launch its first satellite into orbit next year amid regional space race, Middle East Monitor (MEMO) reports.
Local companies ETCO and Tuatara—and the Polish firm, Sat Revolutionare behind the project, MEMO notes citing local media Al-Shabiba.
The satellite is named “CubeSat” and is expected to collect and send satellite images and process data to benefit both Muscat and other partners across the globe. The launch will propel the sultanate among countries in the region namely Saudi Arabia, UAE and Qatar who have already launched their own locally made satellites.
The Gulf country initially planned to launch its first satellite in 2024.
