Oman is planning to launch a light metro network linking the cities of Ruwi and Muttrah to the airport and Seeb, reports say.
The project, Trade Arabia reports citing local media Times of Oman, will be one of the main transport arteries of a new, revitalized Muscat, which will have Ghala as the centre of its commercial activities.
A blueprint of the metro line showcases multi-use areas set up the various metro stations for developments such as offices, retail stores, and residential areas.
Aside from the project, the Sultanate is also planning to launch a passenger rail service that will connect Seeb to Sohar, the capital of the North Al Batinah Governorate, the media note.
