Qatar will supply Pakistan 30 million tons of liquefied natural gas (LNG) over ten years starting from 2022, Trade Arabia reports.
The Gulf country will make the delivery under Sale and Purchase Agreement (SPA) signed between the two countries.
Pakistan currently, the online media reports, has two operational LNG receiving terminals, namely the Engro LNG Receiving Terminal and Pakistan GasPort LNG Receiving Terminal, both of which utilize Floating Storage and Regasification Units moored in Port Qasim.
There are a number of additional terminals operated by private players. The new SPA is the second between the two countries since 2016. With the new contract, Qatar’s LNG supply to Pakistan now hits 6.75 million tons per annum (MTPA).
Qatar is the world’s largest LNG exporter with 77.8 MT in 2020 according to 2020 WORLD LNG REPORT by the International Gas Union.
