Turkey will build a railway between Mosul and Turkey, reports say citing the governor of the Iraqi city.
Najim al-Jubouri, in a statement to semi-state newspaper Al Sabaah, indicated that a team of engineers with the support of Turkish companies will start laying a new modern rail line between the two countries in the coming days.
The railway will connect the center of Mosul and the Turkish border in an aim to reduce the intensity at the land border crossing, Jubouri noted.
The Iraqi official did not disclose the value of project and companies involved.
The Habur-Ibrahim Khalil Border Gate is currently in use for international trade and land travel connection between the two countries.
