Abu-Dhabi-based budget airline Air Arabia has said market condition will determine its official launch expected in the second quarter (Q2) of this year while ruling out delay.
“There are no plans to delay or postpone,” the spokesman for Air Arabia said.
“Preparatory work for the launch remains in motion and will progress as the market situation improves.”
The comments came amid near halt of the global aviation industry due to the novel coronavirus disease. United Arab Emirates has grounded all its passenger airlines in bid to curb spread the disease.
Chief Executive Adel Ali of the joint venture between state-owned Etihad and Air Arabia in November said the airline will start operations in Q2 of this year.
The only listed Emirati airline, Air Arabia came out Etihad and Air Arabia’s project to tap into growing demand for budget travel from the United Arab Emirates’ capital.
