Dubai to host cricket Asia Cup to allow both India, Pakistan to play amid Kashmir dispute

Dubai has been chosen to play host to the Asia Cup to allow archrivals,Pakistan and India, to clash, AFP reports citing the Indian cricket top official.

“The Asia Cup will be held in Dubai and both India and Pakistan will play,” said Sourav Ganguly, the Indian cricket chief.

The championship was previously slated to take place in Pakistan in September, but India has refused to join demanding that organizers move the tournament on a neutral ground due to the wangling between the two over the disputed territory of Kashmir.

The relations between the two countries have recently further worsened with India banning its sports teams from taking part in events in Pakistan.

India and Pakistan have not played a bilateral series since 2012-13 when Pakistan crossed the border for a series of one-day internationals, the French news agency reports.
