Saudi Arabia was elected President of the Desert Locust Control Committee for the next two years, during elections at the opening ceremony of the 41st session of the 36-nation committee in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.
The Locusts Control and Migratory Pests Center (LCMPC), an affiliate of the Saudi Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture, ran for the presidency.
Representative of LCMPC, Maraiee Al-Qahtani, affirmed that this victory reflects the importance of the Kingdom’s role in combating locusts and migratory pests, reported the Saudi Press Agency SPA.
