Schools in Gaza Strip Monday paid tribute to Tunisia, hoisting the country’s flag and singing the national anthem in recognition for last week 20-minute school suspension in Tunisia in view of supporting Palestinians.
The action came from Palestine Minister of education, Mounir Abu Zaitar.
Palestinian schools also displayed photos of Tunisian President Kais Saied and education minister Hatem Ben Salem.
Last Friday, schools in Tunisia suspended courses for 20 minutes in support for Palestinians and against Mike Pompeo, the US secretary of state’s statements that legitimize Israeli settlements in the occupied Palestinian territories.
The North Africa country is one of the arch proponents of the Palestinian cause. Tunisians have condemned every attempts by previous governments to thaw ties with Israel.
President Saied who ascended to power in October vowed to continue backing the Palestinian people in front of adversity.
