Egypt and Kenya Wednesday signed a defense cooperation agreement aiming at deepening partnership in matters of mutual benefit, the eastern African country said, Anadolu news agency reports.
“During the bilateral defense talks, the parties signed a Technical Agreement on Defense Cooperation aimed at deepening partnership in matters of mutual benefit,” Kenya’s Defense Ministry said without giving further details.
Monica Juma, Kenya’s Defense Minister and Egyptian Chief of Staff Lt. Gen Mohamed Farid Hegazy signed the agreement.
Egypt has in recent years multiplied similar agreements with several countries in the region, located in or around the Nile Basin.
In March, Egypt and Sudan signed an agreement promising mutual benefits in matters concerning national security and military cooperation. Egypt also signed similar agreements with Burundi and Uganda in April, Anadolu reports.
