Qatar sent Wednesday aid support valued at around USD 711,747 for 15,000 needy families in three Tunisian governorates, for the month of Ramadan, Webdo Tunis reports.
The aid, the media notes, will be distributed respectively to 4,000 families in Tozeur, 4,000 in Tataouine and 7,000 in Kebili.
The holy month of Ramadan marked by fasting, is expected to start early next week. The World Bank allocated to the North African country last month $300 million to help support more than one million Tunisian families living under the poverty line.
The country’s economy has been timidly rising from the ashes of the 2011 revolution that swept President Ben Ali but the ongoing pandemic has further dealt blows to its – living more people in poverty.
