Oman Monday said only citizens and residents will enter the country from April 8 in view of curtailing the increase in the number of Covid-19 cases.
The Supreme Committee to deal with the pandemic, Times of Oman notes, said it had become necessary to restrict entry due to the increase in the number of cases across governorates.
The sultanate Monday registered 1,117 new cases, and 10 fatalities. The new figures bring the toll of contamination and death respectively to 164,274 and 1,722.
Oman before the new directives, in February imposed a 15-days entry ban on 10 countries, namely Sudan, Lebanon, South Africa, Brazil, Nigeria, Tanzania, Ghana, Guinea, Sierra Leone and Ethiopia as part of efforts to curb the spread of the respiratory disease. The committee also on Monday urged citizens and residents to avoid travel outside Oman during the coming days unless absolutely necessary.
