King Mohammed VI ordered that all Moroccans receive free coronavirus vaccination, the Royal Office said.
This generous gesture reflects the thoughtfulness shown by the Monarch towards the Moroccan people since the outbreak of the pandemic, the Royal Office said in a statement.
It also comes after Royal instructions to launch a massive vaccination campaign in the upcoming weeks to ensure Moroccans protection against the virus with a view to gradually resuming normal life.
On November 9, the King chaired a meeting to follow up the latest preparations for the vaccination campaign which shall at an early stage target citizens in the frontline including medical staff, authorities, teachers, the elderly and people in vulnerable health conditions.
Morocco had taken part in clinical trials of China’s Sinopharm vaccines and the Head of the Government had said that Morocco is waiting for the end of phase three trials before starting to deploy it.
Morocco also ordered some 17 million doses of the AstraZeneca vaccine and is in talks with other companies to ensure enough doses for its population.
