Dubai-based Emirates carrier will fly this week for the first time its largest passenger jet, Airbus A380, to Egypt.
The flight bound to Cairo is scheduled on Wednesday, October 2.
The airline plans to include the superjumbo in the regular services to Egypt.
“We are setting the stage to make the popular A380 experience a part of our scheduled service to Cairo,” said Adel Al Redha, Emirates chief operating officer.
“Egypt has always been a significant destination for us in the region, and we are humbled to be able to play a role in making aviation history in Egypt.”
The flight EK 927 will carry 516 passengers including 426 in Economic class, 76 in Business class and 14 in First class suites.
Egypt will become the first African country to welcome the passenger jet on a normal flight. The Emirates has already operated several other places in the Arab world. It early this year flew passengers on board of the aircraft to Amman, Jordan. In July, it started operating two daily flights from Dubai to Muscat in Oman.
Emirates currently operates 112 A380s while 11 are in the pipeline for delivery.
