Dubai authorities made a soft launch of the local Safari built for a total investment of $270 million and with the aim of giving to residents and visitors sheer experience of wildlife.
The new park, is beyond just a park, noted Hussain Nasser Lootah, director general of Dubai Municipality.
“Our vision for this project, which is more than just a wildlife park, is to offer a highly engaging edutainment experience that fosters education on animal welfare, inspires a sense of learning about wildlife diversity and raises awareness on what makes wildlife protection a top priority,” he said.
The Safari stretches over 119 hectares and is situated at Al Warqa’a 5. It will include Asian, African and Arabian villages and an open Safari Village that offers a guided safari drive.
The park will be house to more than 2,500 animals representing over 250 species. Visitors who took part in the soft launch were able to see White lions from Timbavati in South Africa, orange and white Siberian tigers, giraffes, chimpanzees, hippos, peacocks, ostriches, antelopes, crocodiles and even hyenas. The tourist attraction site will soon welcome elephants and other animals according to Tim Husband, the technical director.
The official launch will take place in January.
