King Mohammed VI and President of France Emmanuel Macron signed, Monday at the Royal Office in Rabat, the Declaration on “the reinforced exceptional partnership” between Morocco and France, aimed at enabling the two countries to better address shared challenges by mobilizing all relevant sectors of bilateral, regional and international cooperation, said a Royal Office statement.
“In this regard, the two Heads of State intend, through this renewed partnership, to give a decisive boost to the multidimensional relations of excellence between Morocco and France, to take into account the ambitions of both countries and to face, together, international developments and challenges,” the Royal Office statement said after talks between King Mohammed VI and President Macron, who had arrived in Rabat earlier in the afternoon for a three-day state visit to the Kingdom.
The two leaders discussed regional and international issues and agreed to work together in the Euro-Mediterranean, African, and Atlantic spheres to promote “prosperity and sustainable human development,” the statement said.
They also stressed the need for a renewed and deep partnership between the northern and southern Mediterranean with a view of promoting stability, sustainability and a prosperous future for the entire region, while addressing the social, economic, and environmental.
The president also praised the King’s role, in his capacity as Chairman of Al Quds Committee, in defending peace in the Middle East.
“The two Heads of State called for an immediate cessation of attacks in Gaza and Lebanon, while emphasizing the priority of protecting civilian populations and the importance of ensuring and facilitating the delivery of sufficient humanitarian aid, while putting an end to regional escalation,” the statement added.
The Sovereign and the French President reiterated the need for relaunching the peace process within the framework of the two-state solution, with an independent Palestinian State based on the borders of June 4, 1967, with East Jerusalem as its capital.
Afterwards, the two leaders chaired the signing ceremony of major deals in the fields of railways, green hydrogen, renewable energies, culture, education, water, and agriculture.
