Chinese ride hailing app Didi will start operating in Egypt next week from the city of Alexandria with expansion to other cities in the plan.
The company, reports say, is in the process of hiring drivers, with promises not to charge commission in their first month.
Didi, controlled by the management team of co-founder Will Cheng and President Jean Liu, dominates roughly 90% market share in China, offers a wide range of application-based services across the Asia Pacific, Latin America, Africa, and Russia. Its services include taxis, private car delivery, ride-sharing, buses, bikes and e-bikes, customized driving, automotive solutions, delivery, shipping and logistics, and financial services.
