Qatar, UAE discuss ways to enhance cooperation

Qatar and the UAE discussed Thursday ways to boost ties between the two countries in areas including economy, trade and investment projects.

Discussion took place in Doha as Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani received a delegation headed by UAE’s National Security Adviser Sheikh Tahnoun bin Zayed Al-Nahyan.

Sheikh Tahnoun bin Zayed Al-Nahyan conveyed to Qatar’s Emir the greetings of UAE’s President Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al-Nahyan, Dubai Ruler Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al-Maktoum, and Abu Dhabi Crown Prince Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al-Nahyan, UAE state-run news agency WAM reports.

The visit of the UAE delegation implies deepening of relations between the two countries following January reconciliation.

Saudi Arabia, UAE, Egypt and Bahrain had cut off ties with Qatar in June 2017 over Doha’s alleged support for terrorism. The Saudi-led group also imposed a sea/air/land blockade. Relations were restored at the Al Ula summit in Saudi Arabia in January 2021.
