The Gulf Cooperation Council, GCC, has condemned Turkish threats to member UAE in the showdown opposing the two countries at the international front, special in Libya.
Nayef Al-Hajraf, Secretary General of the council convoyed the message to Turkey’s ambassador, Erdogan Kok, to Saudi Arabia, in a meeting, Arab News reports.
Hajraf according to the Saudi media, stressed the GCC’s “keenness for regional stability and security” and achieving bilateral interests with neighboring countries on the basis of “respecting their sovereignty and without meddling in their internal affairs.”
Turkey and UAE have been embroiled in proxy war in Libya where Ankara supports UN-backed Government of National Accord (GNA) while Abu Dhabi backs rival government and rebel Gen. Khalifa Haftar.
Turkey charged the UAE for destabilizing the Middle East while GCC member accuses Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan of driving an expansion project in the oil-rich country.
