A freighter of the Emirati airline en route to Amsterdam from Abu Dhabi lost its captain in midair therefore making emergency landing in Kuwait Wednesday.
The flight EY 927 landed safely for a medical treatment to the pilot but the captain could not be saved.
“We are deeply saddened by the loss, and are focused on taking care of our late colleague’s family at this time, to whom we offer our heartfelt condolences,” Etihad said in a statement.
The airways did not name the pilot whose health condition reportedly worsened during the flight.
The airline customarily employs two pilots per flight.
The Abu Dhabi-based airline runs 114 aircrafts and 10 cargos.
