Chadian new leader seeks to bolster ties with Saudi Arabia

The leader of Chad’s Transitional Military Council, Gen. Mahamat Idriss Deby, has sent his diplomatic aide to the kingdom Saudi Arabia to bolster ties with the Gulf country.
Chad’s top diplomat Mahamat Zene Cheri Thursday handed a written message to Saudi Crown Prince Mohamed bin Salman, the ruler of the kingdom, through Minister of State for African Affairs Ahmed bin Abdul Aziz Kattan, Arab News reports citing the Saudi foreign ministry.
The message according to the foreign ministry touches on relations between the two countries and ways to support and enhance them in various fields.
Gen. Mahamat Idriss Deby took over from his father Idriss Déby Itno, who was slain in mid-April this year.
The army installed the Transitional Military Council to lead the country for a period of 18 months.
