Egypt proposed two-day truce in Gaza to swap prisoners

President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi announced Sunday October 27 that Egypt recently proposed a two-day ceasefire in Gaza, aiming to secure the release of four hostages in exchange for Palestinian prisoners held in Israeli prisons.

Speaking at a news conference, Sisi explained that the proposal also includes extending talks for an additional ten days following the initial truce to work toward a comprehensive ceasefire.

President Sisi stressed the need to reach a truce in Gaza, and secure the release of both hostages and prisoners.

Earlier in the week, Egypt announced that its security delegation had met separately with Hamas representatives, led by negotiator Khalil Al-Hayah, and the Israeli delegation from Mossad and Shin Bet, to restart ceasefire discussions.
