Italian energy giant ENI and Bahrain have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to strengthen collaboration in the energy sector, Petrol Plaza reports.
The agreement will enable both parties to carry out and launch joint initiatives in areas of mutual interest, including renewable energy, and LNG supply and exploration.
Bahraini Oil minister Shaikh Mohammed said at the signing ceremony that the “MoU will allow for further discussion on collaboration between Tatweer Petroleum and ENI, including the sharing of experience, expertise, and support on renewable energy, LNG supply, and exploration activities”.
“ENI aims to support the increase of low carbon energy sources in countries where it operates. In order to ensure long-term sustainability, ENI promotes the development of renewable energy and conducts scientific and technological research,” ENI’s CEO Claudio Descalzi said.
ENI will assist the Gulf country to advance its national energy plan which puts emphasis on the promotion of renewable energy.
The Italian giant will also provide its know-how and expertise to help the kingdom target a more sustainable and efficient energy mix to meet Bahrain’s future energy needs, in the LNG sector.
