Saudi Arabia has made illegal the unauthorized access to one’s spouse’s mobile phone; an act labelled cybercrime equating to one year in prison and a fine of $136,239.
Spouses, according to the law, may face one year in prison for spying on their wives’ or husbands’ mobile phones to prove dishonest behavior, Arab News reports.
Accessing the phone of one’s wife or husband to crack the password is illegal according to the law. The law also prohibits the electronical sending of information mined through the illegal access.
Offenders will be subject to lesser sentences if they do not send information.
The use of computer and camera for illegal purposes is also considered as cybercrime.
