Egypt is currently negotiating with Qatar on new investments ranging between $2bn-3bn, Minister of Finance Mohamed Maait announced on Monday, Zawya reports.
Maait did not provide details but the announcement comes after Qatar’s ruler Sheikh Tamim al Thani visited Egypt over the weekend and pledged an increase in Qatari investment.
During the visit, both Egypt’s leader Abdelfattah al-Sisi and his guest discussed developing cooperation “in various fields, especially in the energy and agriculture sectors”, and in trade and investment, “particularly the flow of Qatari investments towards Egypt”. In March, Egypt announced that the Gulf country will invest $5 billion in its economy.
