Oman has launched a major tourism project consisting of hotels, chalets, restaurants, and other tourism and amusement facilities as authorities seeks to lure more holidaymakers, part of their plans to diversify the economy.
The project, dubbed “the Green Peak Adventure Resort” is located in Jabal Al-Akhdar (green mount), a mountainous strip located in Northeast Oman.
The mountainous area is renowned as a prolific resort appreciated by holidaymakers. According to Arabic language daily Al-Watan, last year the area attracted more than 233,000 local and foreign tourists, a number that is set to rise.
The project launched Monday is financed by Oman Investment Fund and will comprise hotels, chalets, restaurants, and other tourism and entertainment facilities.
More projects are expected in the area as the sultanate seeks to grow its tourism sector in line with its economy diversification policy.
