Qatar-owned PSG confirms plans to recruit Messi

French football giants Paris Saint Germain (PSG), a property of Qatar, have confirmed intentions to recruit Ballon d’Or record winner whose contract with FC Barcelona has come to an end, reports say.
PSG President Nasser Al-Khelaifi in an interview with French sport media L’Equipe indicated that first runner-ups of the 2020-2021 season, are keen to lure the Argentine and Barcelona iconic players who has been rumored for a move to the French capital. “Messi is at the end of his contract and all clubs have the right to talk to him and recruit him for next season,” Al-Khelaifi said.
“What I can tell you, and you can believe me, is that all great players want to come to PSG. All – just to be clear, I’m not saying that to answer you on Messi. It’s not possible to sign them all, since we have great players too. And Messi is Messi, a fantastic player,” he said.
Al Khelaifi’s remarks come amid reports in the Spanish city that Messi is in talks with the Spanish giants for a new contract.
Current and new President of the Catalan club, Joan Laporta last week indicated that “Lionel Messi’s renewal is going well. “It’s not a done deal… but it’s going well,” he noted.
Messi sought to leave the Spanish side last year before his contract expired but had to stay to avoid a legal action against him as a clause in the player’s €700 million ($853 million) contract barred him from leaving on a free transfer.
